Kids ready 2 go
Helping kids to be active and healthy
It's important for kids' to live active, healthy lives. Outback kids don't always have the same opportunity to participate in sporting events as kids who live in larger towns and cities.
So a key goal of the Great Kanku-Breakaways Marathon event is to encourage kids to enjoy being physically active in the outdoors.
To help remove barriers for participation in our event, we offer free entry to outback kids U16 years of age (and subsidised entry to the 20km distance).
This is made possible by generous donations from runners and non-runners from all over the place!
Ready 2 go running clinic
We're planning a running clinic for outback kids
We love running and want to grow the sport. Thanks to donations from others who love it too, we are working towards holding a free running clinic for kids in Coober Pedy in March/April 2021.
More information will be available here soon. Local schools will be informed once the details are finalised.
If you are a qualified running coach and would be prepared to donate your time for a weekend, please contact us.
Running shoes for kids
Help them be ready 2 go!
Got a pair of running shoes that just don't work for you or that your kids have grown out of? Are they gathering dust in the cupboard?
Or are you a retail outlet that could donate a pair or two of shoes to get some local kids out on the track?
The cost of running shoes are a significant barrier to exercise for some kids.
We can find your unwanted shoes a good home!
Shoes must be in good condition and in sizes suitable for children or adolescents.
